Ossining Bicentennial HarborFest
Hudson Rising Heads To Ossining to Celebrate a Green New York
On Saturday September 21, Hudson Rising 2013 River Tour — in concert with Ossining’s Bicentennial HarborFest — will celebrate a greener Hudson River Valley with heritage ships, a farm feast with local craft beers, live music, outdoor adventure activities, sustainable living and historic exhibits, a wooden boat show, fun family activities, and a fireworks finale.
This single-day festival takes place at Ossining’s public ferry dock and Harbor Square — just north of the Metro North train station — from 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
By partnering with communities and marshaling their strengths to draw visitors from near and far, Hudson Rising is able to present the fun activities, delicious foods, and environmental lessons that can help inspire and catalyze smart, sustainable economic growth in the region.
There is no general admission fee; however individual activities may have their own fees. At the Farm Feast, for example, a $20 sampling ticket includes six tastes of New York State beer, wine, and cider, as well as a savory bounty of Hudson River Valley sourced foods. Local chefs team up with regional food purveyors such as Feather Ridge Farm organic chicken and eggs, The Pastures pasture-raised beef, and Pura Vida Fisheries, with fresh Atlantic fish & shellfish to create delicious dishes. A farmer’s expo will include fresh bread, pickles, nut butter, cheese, and more, plus you’ll be able to meet a beekeeper and apple farmer.
In partnership with Hudson River Sloop Clearwater and the Empire State Development’s I LOVE NY program, Hudson Rising showcases the local spirit and natural assets of the Hudson River Valley with a series of waterfront festivals that bring together the best foods, attractions, and outdoor activities of each participating city for a day of fun and community involvement. And with boat rides, farm feasts prepared by local chefs, music, and kid’s activities tailored to fit each city along the route, the events offer something for everyone.
