EVENT ALERT @ Croton Point Park this Sunday from 10a-2pm.

This weekend is a two-fer-one extravaganza EVENT!
What’s that you say?

Well, not only can you buy tools at a discounted rate to help you with your food scraps recycling (be it backyard composting or drop off kits) efforts, but you can also pick up some of that rich beneficial soil that came from donated food scraps to enrich your gardens.

The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities will be hosting a Compost Giveback event this Sunday, October 6 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Croton Point Park. Compost bins and rain barrels will also be sold online and available for pickup.

HELP US DIVERT FOOD WASTE FROM BEING INCINERATED. AMONG OTHER THINGS, THIS WILL :
– assist creating a circular lifecycle for food waste by turning it into beneficial soil
– help by creating beneficial soil that can be reused to support ecosystems
– help reduce the waste we truck up to the Wheelbrator plant in Peekskill to be incinerated and gone forever
– help reduce the toxic emissions caused by trucking waste up to the Wheelabrator
– help reduce the pollutants and toxic emissions that come from the Wheelabrator and affect our neighbors in Peekskill the most
