New Addition to Whats Recyclable in Residential Collection
We’re happy to report that effective immediately, Westchester County has expanded it’s accepted recycling materials to now include beverage cartons (aka gable-top containers). Such recyclable cartons consist predominantly of cardboard and include waxy cartons used for juice and milk; soup and broth; cream; and egg substitutes.
So, now in addition to glass, metals and plastics coded #1- #7 (look carefully on the bottom of all containers) that we should be putting into our commingled recycling bins, we should be adding beverage cartons to that day’s pick-up.
This addition also includes shelf stable containers like tetra bricks, but excludes ice cream gallon/pint containers (unless they are #4-#7 designated).
